Our story

A commitment to
understanding how
the world works.

The Oval Financial Forum was founded on the belief that genuine learning in finance comes from producing real analytical work — not just studying it.

Our mission

Learning through publishing.

The Forum exists because writing demands clarity. When you have to explain a macro trend, contextualize a market event, or analyze a geopolitical development in clear, well-sourced prose — the depth of your understanding becomes apparent. Every month we put our members through that process, and the newsletter is the result. It is both the work product and the proof of learning.

How it works

From research to publication.

Step 01
Topic selection & research
Each cycle begins with the editorial team identifying the macro themes and market developments that matter most. Members claim topics and begin in-depth research, drawing from primary sources, economic data, and credible reporting.

What is the Fed's rate path signaling about where inflation actually stands?

Step 02
Writing & analysis
Members write their pieces to OFF's editorial standard — clear, data-driven, and free of personal bias. The goal is to inform and explain, not to persuade. Every claim requires a source. Every conclusion requires evidence.
Step 03
Editorial review
Every piece goes through a structured review — first by a section lead, then by the editor-in-chief. We verify facts, strengthen arguments, and ensure the writing meets the standard the OFF name represents.

Step 04
Publication & distribution
The finished issue goes live on our website and is sent to every subscriber. It is public, permanent, and carries the names of everyone who contributed — which is precisely what makes the work meaningful.
What we stand for

The principles behind everything we do.

These principles shape how we recruit members, how we edit work, how we run meetings, and what we publish. They are the foundation the organization is built on.

01
Merit over background
Membership in OFF is earned through effort and genuine engagement with the work — not through prior credentials, major, or class standing.
02
Intellectual rigor
We hold our work to a high standard. Every piece we publish is carefully researched, clearly written, and reviewed before it carries the OFF name.
03
Objectivity over opinion
OFF is an analytical publication, not an opinion platform. We present what is happening and explain why it matters — letting the data guide our conclusions.
04
Learning by doing
The newsletter is not the end goal — the understanding developed in producing it is. Each issue makes our members sharper analysts and stronger writers.
05
Genuine curiosity
The foundation for everything at OFF is a real interest in understanding how the world works. All other skills can be developed — curiosity has to come first.
06
Accountability to quality
What we publish reflects the entire organization. We take that seriously — and we don't put our name on anything we're not prepared to stand behind.
